Project S.E.W

Project S.E.W. is a collaborative program created in 2019

to address the labor crisis that exists in the sewing industry

in South Carolina. The Dream Center partnered with the following organizations:

SC Department of Commerce, aPad Solutions of Pelzer, Corporate Stitch of Easley, Glen Raven Manufacturing, RSH Decor of Pendleton, Snoozer Pet Products of Piedmont, SC Manufacturing Extension Partnership and Tri-County Technical College.

Together, they created a sewing program located inside

The Dream Center where clients learn to sew for manufacturers. A special thank you to Glen Raven Manufacturing for donating the sewing machines to make this program possible.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, residents of The Opportunity Village have been sewing washable protective masks for the community, and have produced over 3,000 masks. In the future,  Project S.E.W. will place people in sewing jobs with manufacturers, and will provide a model that can be duplicated across the state.
