Assistance for Walk-Ins

People walk into The Dream Center each day with many different needs including homelessness, hunger, unemployment, and many other crisis situations related to poverty. Volunteers are available to meet with them to listen to their story, pray with them, and determine if we can offer assistance or guidance in their situation. We believe one-way giving is for emergencies only, however we do offer emergency food boxes, showers, and a change of clothes for situations the volunteer identifies as an emergency need. Non-emergency needs, such as finding employment, earning a gas card or bus ticket, are met by referring them to our other programs that offer a hand up.

Open Gym

The Dream Centeropens the gym to the community every Tuesday from 6:00 – 9:00 PM
This safe, supervised environment provides area youth ages 13 and up with an opportunity to play basketball.

Santa Shoppe Assistance Program

Opened in October, 2013, The Santa Shoppe Assistance Program is one of the most exciting and progressive programs offered by The Dream Center. This referral based program allows qualifying parents in need to earn Christmas gifts for their children, instead of depending on organizations that provide gifts through one way giving.  Families needing Christmas assistance are referred to The Dream Center by their child’s school.  Parents are then required to attend free classes to earn a shopping voucher.  Class topics include budgeting, parenting, Bible study, resume writing, health & wellness, healthy relationships & self-esteem.  The Dream Center also provides Santa Shoppe credit for attendance at pre-approved school family literacy nights, parent nights or parenting classes offered by Title One schools.  Upon completion, parents make an appointment to shop in The Dream Center Santa Shoppe.  This beautiful Christmas store is housed in The Dream center, is staffed by volunteers, and is stocked with popular new toys and gifts which are generously donated by local churches, schools, corporations and individuals.  A gift wrapping area is also provided to complete their Christmas shopping experience.  At the Santa Shoppe, toys are selected, gifts are wrapped, life stories are shared and relationships are made.

Our Santa Shoppe is in need of new toy and gift donations for this year.  If you or your organization, church, school or business would like to donate toys, we would be so grateful.
